Services and Conditions of Use
As part of our service, we agree to provide you with information and other services that we may decide to offer, subject to the terms of this agreement. Upon notice published through the service, we may modify this agreement at any time. You agree and continue to agree to use our services in a manner consistent with all applicable laws and regulations and in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the policies and guidelines outlined below. Customers ordering gift boxes which contain alcohol, must be over 18 years of age. Please note that you will be referred to as ‘customer’ in this agreement.
Availability
All our cheeses are sourced from small producers and some cheeses are seasonal. Part of the attraction of artisan foods is that they are hand made and vary from time to time. We take great care to ripen the cheeses to perfection and send them to you when they are at their best. On the very rare occasion when it is not be possible to send you a selected cheese either because it is not available or has not fully ripened we will send you a suitable substitution. We will try to contact you to inform you should this be necessary.
Weights
All our cheeses are hand cut and unfortunately it is not an exact science. We take every care to cut as accurately as possible. Should one weight be under we will compensate on another cheese. Similarly whole cheeses like cheddar truckles vary in their weight because they are handmade. Some may be slightly under their described weight whilst others may be slightly over.
Delivery
Cheeses are delivered between Tuesday and Friday. Most often the cheeses are delivered using a next day delivery service but we always aim to complete orders and send them within 5 working days. It is not always possible to send the cheese for the next day, please allow a minimum of 2 days from order to delivery, excluding Saturday to Monday. Should you require your cheese to arrive on a specific date we will make every effort to comply with your wishes.
We use an excellent courier service but it is very important that delivery details are made clear. It is best if someone is in to receive the order. Many customers prefer their orders to be delivered to their place of work. If you wish your order to be left if no one is in, please make the delivery instructions very clear, e.g. ‘please leave at number 20’…….next door could mean one of several neighbours. We occasionally are asked to send an order which has the instructions “leave in the porch”. Please note that any order that is left unattended is done so at your own risk. Should the courier be unable to leave the package with you or a neighbour it will be left in a suitable place and a card indicating where it has been left put through the door. We can not be held responsible if a delivery is held up because no one is available to receive it and there are no alternative instructions.
It is essential that the delivery address and post code are accurate. Postal and courier services increasingly use post codes for delivery. If you are uncertain of the post code there are a number of web sites where such information can be checked. If the delivery address given is incorrect we cannot be held responsible.
Sorry to go on…..but clear delivery instructions are so important to your ultimate enjoyment of the cheese.
Packaging
Much of the packaging we use is biodegradable….so please either compost or recycle once used. We make every effort to ensure that the cheeses arrive to you in an excellent condition. Individual cheeses purchased by weight are wrapped and packed in cardboard boxes for delivery to you. The cheese selections consist of individual cheeses wrapped in waxed paper, and then carefully packed in a decorative cardboard box with cushioning paper. All the cheese selections contain a printed information leaflet providing details of the cheeses in the box. If you would like a gift card enclosed – please complete the necessary part of the order form and one will be included…….written in my best joined up handwriting!
Returns
We make every effort to ensure that the cheese arrives to you in the best possible condition and take great pride in our high levels of customer satisfaction. Should it arrive damaged please contact us within 24hours and we will arrange to send a replacement or refund. We may ask that you return the damaged package of cheese to us or email a photograph.
We cannot refund or replace orders where someone does not like the cheese. Trying new foods always carries an element of risk that it may not be to your taste. We cannot give refunds or replacements where this is the case.
Cancellation
For orders over £100 and for wedding cakes you can cancel orders 30 days before the date it is due to be sent at no charge. There will be a £20 cancellation charge for cancellation of wedding cake orders under 30 days.
Should a customer cancel an order of a cheese box or individual cheeses there will be a small administration charge to cover the costs of the money transfer. The remaining balance will be returned to the customer within 5 working days.
Payment
We use a secure payment system. Your payment is processed via an authorised Payment Service Provider, Paypal, which ensures all your information remains secure and completely confidential.
Delivery Charges
We use a courier service to send the cheese to you.
Christmas Deliveries
Christmas is a very busy time of year for cheesemongers. No matter how hard we work there is a limit to how many excellent cheeses and superb cheese boxes we can wrap and pack in a day. So please get your orders in early to ensure that we can guarantee delivery.
The last day for placing an order for Christmas and ensuring its delivery is generally 8 working days before Christmas, but a date for last orders will be placed on the site nearer the time. We cannot guarantee the delivery date for orders placed after this date.
